Recruiting is moving into a new era. Recruiters have to wear many different hats, manage their company reputation, provide a hospitable candidate experience, and source for roles that didn’t exist a few years ago, all while delivering on aggressive hiring goals.
If there's one thing I've learned from my life in recruiting, it's that the technology we use changes constantly but the fundamentals often remain the same. Yes, we've gone from Rolodexes and phone calls to job boards and emails to texting and even social media recruiting. But the skills that we use to talk with and engage candidates have not changed all that much. Still, change is afoot.
When it comes to conference attendance, like most things in life, a little preparation can go a long way. Next week, the HR technology industry’s biggest confab, HR Tech, descends on Las Vegas’ Venetian Hotel and Casino for four days of panels, presentations, networking, product demos, a few parties, perhaps a gondola ride, and, yes, maybe even a bit of gambling.
