CareerBuilder Acquires Broadbean

London-based job postings site Broadbean has been bought for an undisclosed sum by the ever-growing CareerBuilder, we learned this week. CareerBuilder hopes to emerge as a one-stop-shop for all things pre-hire, and adding Broadbean's tools to their toolchest is the next step. According to CareerBuilder's CEO, 

"Clients will benefit from broader job distribution and one simple workflow to manage all external and internal sources for candidates. Broadbean's robust technologies complement our product offerings as we deliver a more intuitive, data-driven talent acquisition experience for our clients."

Bureau of Labor Statistics Releases March Jobs Report

Earlier this morning, the BLS reeased it's monthly report on job growth, employee activity, and unemployment rates. The report itself is rather dense, but here are some key takeaways:

  • March saw the addition of 192,000 new jobs, including 28,500 in the Staffing industry
  • Unemployment rate is steady at 6.7%
  • Long-term unemployed represent 35.8% of the unemployed

Poor Employee Retention is More Costly than You Think

A recent survey conducted by CEB--Corporate Executive Board--determines that most companies are particularly bad at identifying their employees with the highest potential, which has implications beyond their own organization. According to the survey, when organizations fail to retain their employees with high potential, they have a tendency to wind up in leadership positions at competing companies.
