Often overlooked, however, is the importance of employee benefits to your employer branding. Few employers properly use their benefits package as a selling point when looking for staff, even when they have an excellent benefits package that they should be tweeting about from the rooftops!

Here are a few ways through which employers can communicate their benefits packages to attract the best candidates.

The leading careers community, Glassdoor, has recently announced that it will bring in a new feature which allows companies to lay out their employee benefits offering so that potential candidates can find out exactly what's up for grabs. Current employees can even leave reviews, which adds more credibility. If this feature takes off, benefits and perks will become more and more important in the recruitment process in the years to come.

Through this and similar forums and communities, where HR departments are probably already active, a company can really stand out from its rivals if it flaunts its benefits package in the right way.


Benefits On the Go!

There’s no stopping the power of mobile, which is why many employers are choosing to embrace it by setting up mobile apps for their staff to manage and monitor their benefits. The platforms generally look great and can really make any benefits package stand out. If your company has such an app, find a way to point it outwards and link it your careers page so your candidates can learn more!


In The Job Interview

Interviews are a tricky beast, and once you've covered these 6 great questions, you still have alot of ground to cover. Rather than continuing to grill your candidates, try learning about what their expectations are in terms of benefits, and how what your company offers fit in. Remember, no candidate ever took a job because of bean bag chairs and ping-pong tables. Here's a refresher on the perks employees actually care about.

Although employers typically cannot put the salary in a job advert as depends on experience, they can still outline what benefits a successful candidate will receive. Job posts are often formulaic and it can be difficult to paint a picture of what the position will truly entail, but by including benefits you can ensure prospects that their basic needs are met.

 

So there you have it! These are simply four easy ways in which savvy employers with competitive employee benefits can get a headstart on their rivals in the recruitment process by letting candidates see just how good their benefits are.
